Making art work for everyone in North Edinburgh

National Galleries of Scotland is excited to announce The Art Works project, a new cultural focal point as part of North Edinburgh’s regeneration. The Art Works is a community hub for everyone to enjoy, and a home for Scotland’s amazing art collection.

Created with the community at its heart, The Art Works will be free and accessible to all.  With indoor and outdoor social spaces to discover, whether you’re enjoying a fun day out exploring Scotland’s art, meeting a friend for coffee and a bite, or spending time outdoors, there’s something for everyone. As well as social areas and amenities, there will also be a bookable community studio, support space, further learning rooms and a Changing Places toilet. The Art Works supports Scotland’s green recovery by being the largest cultural building in the country designed to the Passivhaus environmental standard.

National Galleries of Scotland are working with community groups, organisations, schools and colleges, to create meaningful and memorable projects, inspired by the national art collection and celebrating the rich heritage and diversity of the area. These relationships are informing the approach and programme of The Art Works, and its role in the community.

We would love you to join in.  Visit the National Galleries of Scotland’s website to find out more about events we have coming up, and how you can get involved in this innovative new project.
